This name literally means "(female) of throne," which is usually translated "Queen of the throne." However, the Egyptian hieroglyph for her name means "(female) of flesh," in other words "mortal woman." Isis is a Greek corruption of her true name which is unknown because Egyptian hieroglyphs left out most of the vowels.
