Name of the giant father of the beautiful Olwen in the Welsh tale of Culhwch and Olwen. He is cursed to die if his daughter ever marries. He lives in a magic castle that seems to get farther away the closer one gets to it. When Culhwch comes to seek her hand, Ysbaddaden requires that he complete a series of nearly impossible tasks before he will grant permission for them to marry.
